Since 1972, MFI Recovery Center has helped thousands of men, women and children through therapy, education, vocational rehabilitation and aftercare counseling. MFI Recovery Center provides a high quality, multi-disciplinary team of professionals comprised of physicians, psychiatrists, licensed therapists, nurses and certified alcohol and drug counselors. Our professional staff provides a confidential assessment of each patient’s needs, a thorough and individualized treatment plan, stabilization and short-term interventions, specific recovery plan and discharge plan for the next level of care.

MFI Recovery Center provides residential and outpatient treatment, school-based services, and educational programs and life-skills classes. We are licensed and certified by the State of California. In addition, CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, has determined that our residential treatment centers and our adult and adolescent outpatient services meet the nationally recognized standards of care. We also provide linkages for our clients to safe and affordable housing, vocational rehabilitation and jobs, community support groups and churches.

Position Description – Senior Counselor
Salary Range: $14 to $15 per hour

  • Supervising a specific shift of alcohol and drug counselors in a residential treatment center
  • Assessing client problems and providingrecommendations/referrals
  • Crisis intervention, case management, and individual therapy
  • Development of individualized person-centered treatment and service plans with measurable goals and objectives
  • Liaison to community agencies serving people with co-occurring disorders
  • Familiar and comfortable with a strengths based recovery model of care
  • Comfortable and excited about team focused treatment
  • Program services planning and development and group treatment experience focused on drug and alcohol problems, relapse prevention, and trauma
  • Evidence Based Practices, which ideally you will have knowledge and experience with:
    • Motivational Interviewing
    • Cognitive Behavioral Relapse Prevention
    • Strength Based Case Management
    • Crisis Intervention Skills
  • Communications / Interpersonal Skills
  • Savvy with technology/programs, such as: electronic health records, MS Office applications (MSWord, Excel and Outlook), internet searches, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent clinical documentation
  • Very strong commitment and passion for serving those with drug and alcohol and co-occurring problems
  • Strong desire to reach out to others in need in our community
  • Compliance knowledge: HIPAA; ethics; clinical boundaries
  • Minimum Qualifications: Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. 2 years experience working in drug and alcohol recovery. 1 year experience in supervising counseling staff preferred.

Position Description – Counselor I
Salary Range: $10 – $12 per hour

  • Assessing client problems and providing recommendations/referrals

  • Liaison to community agencies serving people with co-occurring disorders
  • Familiar and comfortable with a strengths based recovery model of care

Minimum Qualifications: Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor or Registered Intern
