Substance Abuse Treatment

Drug addiction or substance abuse is a rampant disorder that can happen to anyone regardless of age, sex and race. This is a progressive disorder that develops over time. If not given immediate addiction treatment, this disease, which is characterized by strong compulsion to illicit drugs may cause serious health disorders and even death.

Statistics show that there are close to 40 million cases of drug addiction-related illnesses and injuries occurs in America each year. Statistics further reveal that amphetamines, steroids, cocaine and marijuana are among the most commonly abused substances in the region.

Substance abuse counselors warn that drug abuse is not only detrimental to one's health and future but this disease is also a risk to communities and work environments. As a matter of fact, drug addiction has been linked to countless cases of both petty and heinous crimes such as rape and murder. This disease also endangers tenure of work and family relationships.

Certainly, drug abusers have an imminent need for substance abuse treatment from health professionals. Various drug treatment programs are available in most drug rehab centers across the country. These treatment programs typically include counseling, medication and other activities geared to help eliminate drug addiction.
