What is an employee assistance program?

An employee assistance program (EAP) is a work-based program that provides free evaluations, counseling, education, and other addiction recovery services to employees struggling with substance use disorder. 

Because addiction can affect work performance and losing an experienced employee due to substance abuse is expensive for employers, EAPs benefit both the employee and the employer.

The EAP program at MFI Recovery Center provides effective, evidence-based addiction treatment without significant disruption in the employee's work schedule. The EAP program provides accredited, structured, professionally administered short- and long-term care at facilities in Banning, Murrietta, Riverside, and Hemet, California.

What is involved in an employee assistance program?

The skilled medical and counseling team at MFI Recovery Center performs a comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation in order to design personalized addiction treatment plans. The goal of the treatment plan is to help people identify the underlying cause of their addiction and learn to cope with stress and other triggers that cause cravings for drugs or alcohol. 

Personalized treatment plans may include:

• Individual and group counseling
  
• Family counseling
  
• 12-step programs

Relapse prevention is an essential component of the EAP program. Relapse-prevention training helps people change the way they respond to situations or behaviors that trigger the urge to use substances. Families can also benefit from relapse-prevention planning.

EAP treatment typically involves 6-9 hours per week of structured care. The length of the program varies depending on the needs of the patient.
